Eating on the Go While Managing Your Weight

Here are a few travel-friendly tips to help keep your weight under control away from home:

At the office

  • Most offices have a microwave, so keep plenty of Campbell's® Select Harvest® or Campbell's® Chunky™ soups in microwavable bowls or Campbell's® Soup at Hand® in your office for a quick lunch break. For delicious varieties, click here.

  • Eating lunch at the office can be challenging, especially if you have limited choices or are forced to go out. Pack your lunch using these wholesome sandwich ideas from Pepperidge Farm for home or office.

  • At lunch meetings choose sandwiches that are on whole grain bread (like Pepperidge Farm® Whole Grain breads) and have little or no mayonnaise and/or dressing. Fill your plate with green salad or fruit and just take a few bites of other, higher-calorie foods.

In the car

  • When traveling by car, get a small cooler and pack it full of munchies like baby carrots, V8® 100% vegetable juice, portable yogurt, V8 Splash® Smoothies, grapes, and pretzels.

  • If you're on a longer car drive, pack a picnic lunch or dinner. Make a few sandwiches with whole-grain bread and lean meat instead of stopping at a drive-thru window. Plus, picnicking at a rest area is a good way to give everyone a break from the car.

  • If you're on a busy day of errands and carpooling, try keeping a small cooler bag with you so your favorite healthful snacks are handy.

In a plane

  • Ask ahead of time if there is a meal service. If so, request either a low-fat or low-calorie meal. Most major airlines offer these meal options.

  • If there is no meal service on a flight, bring your own snack in your carry-on. Bring fruit, raisins, or a small bag of crackers. You can usually find these items in the airport at gift shops or newsstands.

  • If you're hungry for a snack on the flight, munch on the small bags of pretzels or peanuts most airlines serve. Both are great snacks, but stick to eating just one or two bags.

  • Order a V8® 100% vegetable juice or Campbell's® tomato juice as a snack in flight. It will help satisfy you.
